Holidays are the best time to bond as a family. However one of the most difficult challenges prior to going on holiday is deciding what items to take for your little one. With a toddler and a baby , packing lightly is a thing of the past, but with this being our first holiday abroad with the two boys I’m terrified I will forget something vital.
Bertie is at the age where packing is much easier, clothes, sun cream, swimsuit and sunhat and sandals. George on the other hand requires a lot of baggage everywhere we go.. Its’ amazing how much you need to pack for such a tiny person.
I have teamed up with the beautiful online boutique Lucy & Belle to talk to you all about packing some summer essentials for George’s first holiday abroad.
Lucy and Belle is one of our favourite baby boutiques.. I’m a massive fan of traditional style and they pride themselves in offering timeless elegance and effortless style. They stock some of my favourite brands such as Kissy Kissy, Aden & Anais, Baby GI and Pasito A Pasito.
Since Bertie was born I have always had a love for these brands but found it so difficult to buy as most don’t sell direct from their website and where I live there are very few baby boutiques. Therefore expensive trips to London were my only option for beautiful baby boy clothes and accessories . The lovely Clara from Lucy & Bell clearly and thankfully recognised a gap in the market after the birth of her beautiful twin girls ( Lucy & Belle of course) and has since developed the most luxurious online boutique which embraces tradition in a modern way and even better its accessible to everyone at the click of a button. You can read more about their story here.
So with the help of Lucy and Belle I’ve done a little packing 101 for my babies first holiday.
A car seat is essential for safe travel by car, plane , or bus and it can also double up as a handy baby seat when you arrive at your destination. Using a breathable seat cover will keep baby cool and comfortable when out and about .Not only is it practical for washing and warm weather I think it looks the part too.. this Pasito a Pasito cover is one of many in their range and was used by none of other than Kate Middleton when taking Princess Charlotte home from hospital… So what’s good for Kate is good for me.
Not only is a lovely blanket essential for the travelling its also great for shade…Even better if it smells of home or Mum, I have found it will help comfort your baby. I love this Kissy Kissy aeroplanes blanket in particular and I think it’s very suitable for George’s first aeroplane trip.
We went for this beautiful baby blue Ines hospital case from Pasito a Pasito its multi functional and perfect for holiday packing with its many compartments and a bonus that it matches our car seat cover too. It’s large in size which is necessary for all babies essentials and easy opening . This would be such a perfect baby shower present as it would be an ideal hospital bag for Mum too.. then being used time and time again after babies birth for weekends away and holidays.
Muslin’s and burping cloths
I take these everywhere I go as George is a very sicky baby. The Aden &Anais range have 70cm Muslin cloths and are quick drying and incredibly soft and gentle. Whether you bottle feed or breast feed they can cover privacy if baby is easily distracted and they clean fully and soften with each wash.
To keep the sun off his face we went for this Kissy Kissy essential stripe sunhat in grey. I has a wide brim to keep the sun out of his little eyes and a tie that comfortably fastens under the chin to keep the hat firmly in place.
A three hour aeroplane trip with a baby on your knee is never going to be relaxing. But to keep it as interesting as possible for baby pack some new small toys to occupy them with. I love these cute little teddy rattles and hopefully George will too.
When on the aeroplane its inevitable you will drop toys and dummies several times. To keep the dummy from constantly falling I love these Pasito A Pasito dummy clips. They are essentials if your baby loves a dummy and means they can never go missing.
Sleeping bags for babies are so handy, you don’t have to worry about loose sheets and making sure they are warm during the night. For holidays a low tog version is always best and I decided to go for this beautiful sleeping bag from Aden & Anais. I can’t recommend the brand enough and just like their jumbo muslin cloths these sleeping bags get softer and softer with every wash.
I cant wait to go on our first holiday as a family of four and little George is doing it in style with all his beautiful new accessories from Lucy & Belle. Beautiful clothes , interiors and accessories perfect for your little one, as a present or a baby shower gift.
